Eternal Security Revisited – Hebrews 3

Eternal Security Revisited - Hebrews 3Is there any doubt that the writer of Hebrews was writing to Christians? …to “saved” people?

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are bound for heaven,…

With that in mind, take a look at verse 12:

12 Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.

The past few weeks, my men’s group has been going through John Bevere’s new book, “Driven by Eternity.” It has caused many to dive into the Word and determine what they believe when it comes to eternal security issues. In his book, Bevere states that it’s true God will never leave you or forsake you, but no where in scripture does it say we can’t walk away from God.

After reading today’s chapter, I’d propose he start saying that scripture does say you can turn away from God.

Thoughts?
